Dogwood Place was built and opened in August 2001 to serve individuals with mental and/or physical disabilities who require round-the-clock care by a direct service provider.   The house has four bedrooms and two full baths, with a dedicated office. 

Dogwood Place is an 811 PRAC, Project Rental Assistance Contract, governed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  As such, HUD views this property as (4) rental ”units”, each bedroom being (1) unit.    Each “unit” is rented to an individual who is responsible to pay a portion based on 30% of their adjusted gross annual income.  HUD pays the unit rent less the tenant portion based on this calculation method.  The resident’s gross annual income is adjusted based on out-of-pocket medical expenses.

South River Development Corporation provides the physical maintenance of Dogwood Place and processes and approves applications for each resident based on HUD income limits and guidelines.  A service provider partner provides round-the-clock care for the residents.  This service provider assesses and approves each application based on medical needs and the service provider’s ability to meet those medical needs.
